About 3.30pm on Sunday, police were called to the Mt Druitt Community Hub in Kelly Close following reports of an intoxicated male on the premises. When officers arrived, they located a 60year-old man, who was heavily intoxicated and a number of empty wine bottles were in the vicinity. The Auburn man was identified at the scene before paramedics attended and took him to hospital for treatment for a number of minor cuts and abrasions.
Police have charged a man with firearms offences following a short siege is Sydney’s west earlier this month. About 5.30pm on Wednesday, October 12, St Marys police were called to a property in Silverdale, where a 64-year-old man had barricaded himself into a shed, allegedly armed with a shotgun and ammunition. Police negotiators and the Tactical Operations Unit established a perimeter. Just before 11pm, the man surrendered himself to police and firearms were seized. He was taken to Nepean Hospital for assessment and was released on Monday, October 17. No one was injured during the incident. On Tuesday, October 18, the man attended St Marys police station, where he was arrested and charged with firearm manner likely to injure person/property and using a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or a drug. The man will appear at Penrith Local Court on Thursday, December 1.
3 ROPES CROSSING
Police are investigating following the theft of food from a grocery store at Ropes Crossing on Sunday. About 3.50pm, an unknown woman entered the store and removed a number of food items before leaving without paying for the goods. Police are currently examining CCTV and other evidence to identify the woman who is only described as caucasian. A man will face Mt Druitt Local Court on charges of breaking and entering after he was arrested on Thursday. About 8.30am, police arrested a Bidwill man following an investigation into a number of break and enter offences over a three-month period. Officers attended the Cupania St address and arrested the 29-year-old before he was conveyed to Mt Druitt police station and taken into custody. Police also recovered a large amount of property as a result of the investigation worth in excess of $16,000.
Mt Druitt police are investigating the theft of a bicycle from Emerton on Saturday. About 1.30am, a 15-year-old Willmot boy visited a service station at Emerton. He parked his bicycle outside before entering the store to purchase items. When he returned a few minutes later, he found his bicycle had been stolen.
Police are investigating a vehicle fire at Bidwill on Sunday morning. About 12.45am, a 24-year-old Pine Cres woman woke to a loud bang from the front of her property. The woman got up and found her motor vehicle well alight. She contacted police and the fire brigade who attended and extinguished the fire a short time later.
