PRINCIPAL JACKIE A LAUDED LEADER
LONGTIME primary school principal Jackie Malecki has received a John Laing Award for Professional Development.
The Rooty Hill Public School principal of 18 years earned praise for her leadership and mentoring others.
“I was astounded, really, because you never expect to be acknowledged by your peers,” she said. “I was so thrilled.”
Ms Malecki was nominated by the NSW Primary Principals Association, of which she is the secretary.
The Penrith resident has taught in the area for more than 40 years. She has spent most of her career in the region and had stints at schools including Tregear, St Clair and North St Marys.
“This is one of the best areas to teach in and to lead schools because there are many young teachers and executives who bring huge enthusiasm to the job and it’s really great to work with them,” Ms Malecki said.
