Thirsting to hit the road
Group ready to play new album to fans after touring delay
AUSSIE icons Thirsty Merc are bringing their Shifting Gears tour to St Clair next month.
The group had to call off their original tour last year following the tragic loss of a close friend in a car accident, but the boys are back on the road and ready to rock.
After more than a decade of producing anthems such as The Summertime, Give Me 20 Good Reasons and Emancipate Myself, Thirsty Merc have earned their stripes as stalwarts of the Australian music industry.
Merc fans will be set to enjoy the classic hits as well as new tracks from the independent Shifting Gears album which was released through crowd-funding.
“We really want to tour this album to as many of our fans as we possibly can,” vocalist and songwriter Rai Thistlethwayte said.
“We want to tour rural areas just as much as the regional and metropolitan areas.
“We want to have a solid playlist of songs, and our new album is a way of adding a strong new body of work to our existing catalogue.”
The target for a 75-day crowd-funding campaign was reached by the second day, which stands as a testament to the band’s fanbase.
“We love crowd-funding because it allows us to work directly with our fans,” Thistlethwayte said.
Thirsty Merc will be in western Sydney at the Blue Cattle Dog Hotel on December 17.
Thirsty Merc will play in St Clair on Saturday, December 17.
