Big opening weekend
FALLS Creek opened its first lift of the 2013 season for skiing and snowboarding on June 16.
Falls Creek Ski Lift general manager Francis Jackson said the snowfalls across the weekend along with the industrious snowmaking efforts by the team made the run opening possible and it was wonderful seeing guests enjoy some snowsports fun.
The Mouse Trap Magic Carpet opened from 10am – 2pm on Sunday for beginner skiing and snowboarding and guests were provided with free transport by the Falls Creek Resort Management Board to the top of the hill at Cloud 9.
From there they enjoyed first turns, group or private ski lessons, plus coffee or lunch at Cloud 9 restaurant.
Kids took part in a heap of fun activities at the Renault Kids Club with a jumping castle, face painting and games, indoor and out on the snow, as well as three-legged races, Snocce (snow bocce) and garbage bag races planned.
Following their exciting day in the snow, kids watched a movie down at QT Hotel in the heart of the village.
SNOW EXCUSE NOT TO VISIT: Falls Creek ski instructor Nozomi Haba was rapt to see the resort open for business earlier this month and is giving a big wave out to everyone wanting to head to the alpine resort for a fun time at the snow this season.
DOWNHILL IS FUN: Snow enthusiasts Brienna and Colby took to the Mouse Trap run on June 16.
