Online bid to woo visitors
TOURISM North East will introduce a marketing campaign to promote the new region-wide digital platform, which encompasses a series of destination websites, courtesy of State Government funding.
Bill Sykes (MLA, Benalla) made the $50,000 funding announcement last month.
As well as the marketing campaign, a media and marketing kit will be developed for the Falls to Hotham Alpine Crossing walk in the hope of attracting greater visitation from interstate and intrastate markets to the region.
“Victoria’s High Country is famous for its rich culinary experiences, such as cooking schools and ‘meet the winemaker’ programs, as well as for winter skiing, summer walking and cycling trails and of course, spectacular scenery,” Mr Sykes said.
“The region is also renowned for its national parks and pristine rivers and lakes.
Mr Sykes said the websites would allow visitors to interact online via social media channels while holidaying in the region.
“Consumer behavior in accessing tourism information and promotion has changed dramatically and the increased use of digital media has meant there is a need to incorporate this activity into marketing campaigns,” he said.
Tourism North East will work with Tourism Victoria to develop and implement these projects.
Minister for Tourism and Major Events Louise Asher said the funding is part of the Coalition Government’s $350,000 Regional Cooperative Marketing Innovation Fund to generate more opportunities for regional tourism.
