Culi­nary de­light to start sea­son

THE third an­nual Din­ner Plain SnowEx­cuse went off with a bang, dur­ing the open­ing weekend of the snow sea­son.

Five ta­lented chefs vis­ited Din­ner Plain to pro­duce a se­ries of amaz­ing din­ing ex­pe­ri­ences, at the five par­tic­i­pat­ing venues that sold out.

Chefs Michael Demag­i­s­tirs from Masterchef, Sunny Gil­bert from Movida and Next Door, Gareth El­stob from St Kather­ine’s and Storm, and James Crute from Mof­fit and wine guru Clare Bur­der teamed up with Din­ner Plain’s lo­cal tal­ent to tan­ta­lise the guests’ taste-buds.

Bill Sykes (MLA, Be­nalla) vis­ited with the DP Bike Club, the com­mu­nity and re­tail­ers and then of­fi­cially opened the 2013 snow sea­son to a good crowd.

There was also a Kids Zone area, where the smaller mem­bers of the fam­ily could have fun on the jump­ing cas­tle or have their face painted.

The clear Sun­day night sky was lit up with an amaz­ing fire­works dis­play which fin­ished off Din­ner Plain’s gourmet celebration of win­ter.

Al­though there was no snow, busi­ness op­er­a­tors have re­ported the weekend was a huge suc­cess and ac­com­mo­da­tion providers have in­di­cated book­ings are a lit­tle up on last year’s.
