Culinary delight to start season
THE third annual Dinner Plain SnowExcuse went off with a bang, during the opening weekend of the snow season.
Five talented chefs visited Dinner Plain to produce a series of amazing dining experiences, at the five participating venues that sold out.
Chefs Michael Demagistirs from Masterchef, Sunny Gilbert from Movida and Next Door, Gareth Elstob from St Katherine’s and Storm, and James Crute from Moffit and wine guru Clare Burder teamed up with Dinner Plain’s local talent to tantalise the guests’ taste-buds.
Bill Sykes (MLA, Benalla) visited with the DP Bike Club, the community and retailers and then officially opened the 2013 snow season to a good crowd.
There was also a Kids Zone area, where the smaller members of the family could have fun on the jumping castle or have their face painted.
The clear Sunday night sky was lit up with an amazing fireworks display which finished off Dinner Plain’s gourmet celebration of winter.
Although there was no snow, business operators have reported the weekend was a huge success and accommodation providers have indicated bookings are a little up on last year’s.
