Get set for opener
FALLS Creek is gearing up for another exciting snow season with the Queen’s Birthday weekend kicking off the action.
Visitors will be treated to a sausage sizzle, live entertainment, an art display by local Charlie Brown, regional wine, beer and cheese sampling and fire pits to toast marsh mellows and a free fireworks display in the Village Bowl will light the sky on Saturday evening for all visitors.
During the off season, Falls Creek Resort Management has been busy investing in infrastructure to enhance the visitor experience.
Installation is underway for the first phase of a new visitor signage project.
The innovative signage is state of the art with interchangeable panels that cater for the dual seasons.
Positioned well above the snow line in winter and easily transformed in the green season, it will be easier than ever for visitors to navigate around the Resort and find out useful information.
Falls Creek is the only place in Australia where you can drive your own snowmobile, ride a snow bike on a ski trail and see a sled dog event under village lights at night and it’s also the only true ski-in, ski-out village in the country.
The Snowplay Park will offer more fun than ever especially with its kid’s snowmobiles and the snowshoe trails will open a number more routes thanks to the new mountain bike trail network at the resort.
This season will see the continuation of the weekly Street Party, every Tuesday night throughout July and August, and other weekly events include night skiing every Wednesday and Saturday as well as the Pete the Snow Dragon Show.
The spectacular night show lights up the sky every Thursday during July and August.
Falls Creek also plays hosts to main events including the unique Sled Dog classic on Saturday, August 2, Storm the Castle on Saturday, August15, the 25th anniversary of the Kangaroo Hoppet on Saturday, August 22 and a Onesie weekend on September 13 and 14.
