Smythe takes on resort’s top job
THE Falls Creek Resort Management Board (FCRMB) welcomed new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stuart Smythe to the team in early May.
With a background in global business, Mr Smythe (pictured) demonstrated his abilities in establishing, building and growing new entities to outstanding businesses, and coupled with his ability to transform and drive organisational change across businesses in Australia, North America, India and Japan made him perfect for the job.
According to FCRMB, Mr Smythe’s global senior leadership experience along with the proven formulation and execution of strategic initiatives aligned with a collaborative approach to key stakeholder objectives have underpinned his success in international finance and business development over the last 20 years.
As a long-time visitor to Falls Creek, avid snow sports enthusiast Mr Smythe is excited about the opportunities awaiting the mountain resort.
“The most recent developments in the snow sports industry in Australia, namely significant investment from offshore provides meaningful validation for the domestic industry and will present dynamic opportunities for those key players with the right infrastructure, strategic partners, investment opportunities and strategy,” he said.
“I am tremendously excited with where Falls Creek is positioned to benefit from such development, along with the application of the Boards Master Plan and the dedication of the Resort staff and key stakeholders to ensuring Falls Creek is the pre-eminent outdoor mountain destination for all seasons.”
Mr Smythe is an active backer of snow sport related films and has backed innova- tive product development initiatives related to the industry.
FCRMB chair Mark Anderson said the board is thrilled to have been able to find its new CEO and look forward to the next five years with Mr Smythe at the helm.
“We are pleased to have found such a well-qualified executive to fulfil this pivotal role for the next five years,” he said.
“Special thanks to Mark Hubbard who has ensured the smooth functioning of Resort operations and management while the Board undertook the executive search.”
Mr Smyth officially began his new role on May 4, 2015.
