Escape to the snow
IF getting away with the girls this winter is on your list of things to do, then Girls Love Snow could be the escape you’re looking for.
Girls Love Snow is a locally run program led by some of the finest snowsports coaches in the snow business, who specialise in small groups of ladies who are after fun, adventure, safety and comfort in an allfemale environment.
Director Libby Phillips has been involved in the snow industry for 30 years and she decided to share her passion for snow with other women, thus creating Girls Love Snow.
“We offer a number of snow adventures throughout the year both in Australia and internationally,” she said.
“It’s about women getting out in the snow and enjoying skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, dog sledding or just getting up into the alps to enjoy dinner in the snow.”
Women interested in visiting Victoria’s alps can sign up to take part in the Falls Creek/ Mt Hotham tour this August.
“We can pick people up from Southern Cross Station in Melbourne and we then bring them to Bright and they will stay at the Bright Chalet for three nights,” Ms Phillips said.
“We spend a day at Falls Creek and the following day at Mt Hotham, and the women are encouraged to take a ski lesson or snowboarding lesson, so they get the most out of the experience.
“However skiing and snowboarding isn’t a prerequisite for being part of the tour, and the women are more than welcome to explore the Villages.”
Ms Phillips said even though it’s a snow orientated tour, it’s not just about the snow.
“We want to show off as much of the North East as we can, and we will have time for some shopping in Bright and Mt Beauty and will also stop at Milawa on the way to Bright to sample some cheese and stop i n at Brown Brothers,” she said.
“It’s really about giving women the chance to enjoy the snow without feeling like their competing against their partner on the slopes, and just hanging out with a great group of women.”
