REFORM HILL WALK
From Falls Creek: via Great Alpine Road 90km – 1hr37min or via Kiewa Valley Highway 94km – 1hr28min From Mt Hotham: 86km – 1hr26min
Looking to do a bit of exploring to break up the drive home? If you’re going through Myrtleford or returning your gear to Ray’s Ski Shop, head to Jones Park and make your way up Reform Hill. Reform Hill takes its name from a rich gold bearing quartz reef discovered in 1854. There are three different tracks around the hill with no walk requiring any bushwalking experience or taking more than an hour to complete. The lookout at the top provides visitors with views of the Ovens Valley, Mt Buffalo and the Victorian Alps. Some of the monuments along the way include the Hume and Hovell Monument which was erected in 1924 to celebrate 100 years of exploration, the Reform Mine main shaft and ventilation shaft and town’s old water storage basin. Hops, vineyards and the many farms of the valley can also be seen.
