AN artist in resident program was the catalyst to turning a Falls Creek eyesore into a masterpiece over the summer

International street artist, TWOONE (Hiroyasu Tsuri) pictured above, turned the well-known landmark best known as the brown water tank into a work of art.

Through a successful crowd funding initiative, the work was unveiled to the public in early March.

“Twoone’s impressive work on the once brown water supply storage tank will have a big impact on everyone who skis, rides or walks past,” Resort management board member Lindy Allen said.

“This large-scale Bogong Moth reminds us that we share our environment with one of nature’s most mysterious creatures and we also share a responsibility to preserve it for future generations.”

The artist himself said the Bogong moth was a stand out.

“The visual and textural nature made it a fantastic piece to work on,” Hiroyasu said.

“The name ‘Big Fella’ could not be better suited.

“It is the indigenous meaning of Bogong and holds the village’s ‘water’ life line.”
