Yeppoon podium a race tune-up for Casey

Multisport Mecca - - News -

SEARCHING for a tough race ahead of Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast, Buderim’s Casey Munro found exactly what he was chasing at Yeppoon on August 6.

He finished third behind Max Neumann and Lindsey Wall to claim a podium spot in the standard distance event at the Yeppoon Triathlon Festival.

Casey was at the pointy end of the field from the start, with Brandon Copeland and Maroochydore’s Clayton Fettell leading in the swim.

After he bridged the gap in transition, Clayton was struggling on the bike when Casey pushed to the front with Max and Lindsey but was unable to stay with them on the run.

It was a good hit-out for Casey ahead of racing on home turf next month for the 70.3, and then tackling Ironman Taiwan on October 1.

Here's how the locals finished at Yeppoon:
