■ The Black­all 100 on Oc­to­ber 21 is a qual­i­fier for the West­ern States 100-Mile En­durance Run.

■ The only other Aus­tralian qual­i­fier is the Ul­tra-Trail Aus­tralia run in the Blue Moun­tains.

■ Run­ners must com­plete the Black­all 100 course in less than 18 hours to be el­i­gi­ble.

■ Those suc­cess­ful can then have their name placed in a lottery to earn en­try.

■ West­ern States is the world’s old­est 100-mile trail race. Start­ing in Squaw Val­ley, Cal­i­for­nia near the site of the 1960 Win­ter Olympics it ends 100.2 miles later in Auburn, Cal­i­for­nia.
