Trio en­tered for tri ul­tra test

THREE lo­cals will be at the start line of the epic UM Aus­tralia three-day triathlon next May.

Quickly be­com­ing a bucket-list Sun­shine Coast event since it was launched in 2015, it in­cludes a 10km swim, 421.1km cy­cle and 84.3km run over three days.

Bud­dina chi­ro­prac­tor Car­men Atkin­son is mak­ing a re­turn af­ter crash­ing on the first bike leg this year, while Keith Mari­cich (right) of Trilogy Cy­cles has again signed up af­ter fin­ish­ing his first ul­tra-dis­tance event in 2017.

Noosa Heads ac­coun­tant Juli­enne Drys­dale (right) will make her UM de­but.

This year’s field will fea­ture 35% women, with 50 ath­letes from all cor­ners of Aus­tralia and from var­i­ous lo­ca­tions around the world.

Among them will be Vaib­hav Mopi­devi, who, if suc­cess­ful, will be­come the youngest to ever com­plete an Ul­tra­man. He turns 18 this year and will only just make the qual­i­fi­ca­tion cri­te­ria by fin­ish­ing his first Iron­man af­ter his birth­day.
