YOUNG ACHIEVER By JUSTIN JENVEY
ZACH Allan appears destined for bigger and better things in motocross after a dominant first season of racing.
The Myrtleford youngster has so far picked up two major trophies in 2017 winning his class in the Victorian Junior MX Championships as well as the North Regions MX crown.
Debuting in the 85cc small-wheel C Grade class, the 12 year-old finished on the podium in all four rounds of the Victorian titles while achieving similar results in the Northern Regions series.
Allan said he was surprised by his immediate success on the track, particularly on surfaces he had never ridden before.
“This was my first year racing the Victorian juniors and North Regions so I was excited but also nervous because I’d only done a couple of local races before,” Allan said.
“I was a bit nervous during the first round at Cobram but I came third overall.
“The second round at Colac was very wet, I’d never ridden on sand before and the track had some of the biggest ruts I’ve ever seen but I had a great day and finished first.
“The sand at Rosebud was also tough but I still managed a first overall and then finished the series in Wonthaggi with a third.”
