MOUNT Hotham-Dinner Plain Fire Brigade has celebrated its 20th anniversary.

A presentation was held at the General Store in Hotham Heights earlier this month at which the mountain volunteer team’s achievements in the past two decades were recognised.

The birthday was also marked with a cake.

A five-year award was presented to Cole Vanderberg and a 20-year award to brigade captain Larry Doyle.

The awards honoured the pair’s outstanding service to the Victorian Country Fire Authority and long service to the brigade.

Second Lieutenant Scott Ryan said the celebration was a great opportunity to bring people for a social event and reflect on years past.

“It was a fantastic night and everyone really enjoyed themselves with 30 people attending, including key representatives on the mountain and all the CFA members of the brigade,” Mr Ryan said.

“We had a representative from Mount Hotham Resort Management, Mt Hotham Skiing Company and one of the assistant chiefs of the CFA.

“Throughout the years we have maintained the high skill of all the members and responded to any incidents that we are paged to in a timely manner.

“We couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved as a team.”

The brigade’s boundary stretches towards Cobungra in the east and to the old ticket box just west of the resort.

During large bushfire campaigns in recent years the brigade has largely operated as an incident control centre and helped resource all firefighters who came to the mountain.

It activated, planned and helped the incident controller and delivered key information about the local area.

New members are welcome and more information is available by emailing
