OVENS Valley United will continue its English experiment with the addition of a second import for the upcoming cricket season.
The Tigers hope to strengthen their batting with the signing of Adam Huxtable, a classy lefthander from Ivybridge Cricket Club in Devon.
It will be Huxtable’s second stint in Australia after playing for Lennox Head in the NSW Far North Coast competition in the 2015/16 season.
The 23 year-old joins Ryan Withers who came to the club last year with fellow Englishman Connor Hammond.
Senior manager Tom Chettleburgh said Huxtable will likely feature at the top of the batting order for the Tigers.
“At this stage we will look to open him,” he said.
“The season he spent at Lennox Head he batted in the middle order but then went back home and opened.
“He said his last stint in Australia really improved his cricket so we’re hoping he’ll bring a bit of stability to our batting line-up and partner one of our young guys at the top.
“If we have someone else you can score runs consistently it will take the pressure off guys like Josh Newton and hopefully the rest can build around those two.
“Last year we missed out on finals by 0.2 per cent which was something like 10-20 runs so that’s why we’ve got him out
