Taberner pens new deal
Peel Thunder’s run to a second consecutive WAFL premiership.
Taberner kicking eight goals in three finals and totalled 41 majors in 16 WAFL appearances.
Speaking on Monday, Taberner said he was pleased to be staying with the Dockers.
“I’m settled in Perth and I’m looking forward to playing for at least a few more years with this playing group,” he said.
“I know where I want to play my footy which is at Fremantle and I think this is where I can play my best football.”
Fremantle’s list manager Brad Lloyd said the club was pleased with Taberner’s progression and see plenty of development in him still.
“Matt is an important player on our list and is a developing forward who continues to grow every year,” he said.
“He had some strong performances throughout the 2017 season and played some outstanding football at Peel Thunder.
“We’re delighted that he has extended at the club and we look forward to seeing his continued development.”
Taberner joined the Dockers in the 2012 rookie draft and was promoted to the senior list for the following season.
He has kicked 52 goals in his 53 AFL matches.
