MT Beauty has eased to vic­tory over Kiewa in Satur­day’s grand fi­nal re­match.

The Power opened their ac­count for the 2017/18 sea­son with a 43-run win over the Hawks at Kiewa.

Af­ter four of Mt Beauty’s top five were out for ducks last week the team’s lead­ing bats­men all fired in round two, help­ing the vis­i­tors to 8/198.

Wicke t keeper Damien Jenvey was the best with 44 while Ross Wil­son made 41 and Greg McLen­nan 37.

Chris Der­rick (3/29) and Al Ran­dell (1/15) ripped through the Kiewa top order to re­duce the hosts to 4/29 be­fore some re­sis­tance from Con­nor Davis (24) and Ryan Bar­tel (22).

Ai­den Grace (2/17) and Dan Sav­ille (3/22) shared the next four wick­ets to have Kiewa on the ropes at 8/80.

The fi­nal pair of Jesse McIn­er­ney (40) and An­drew Clark (17 not out) then halted the Power’s progress ad­ding 60 in the high­est part­ner­ship of the in­nings.

Sav­ille took the fi­nal wicket to see Kiewa all out for 155.

A cen­tury to Mark Betheras helped Mt Beauty’s sec­ond grade to a sec­ond straight win.

The vet­eran fin­ished un­beaten on 103 and put on 144 with Chris Hock­ing (60) for the sec­ond wicket in the to­tal of 5/188.

With the ball the Power lim­ited Kiewa to 4/84 from their 40 overs with Ben Slo­combe tak­ing 3/14.

Mt Beauty hosts ri­val Ded­erang in its first home game of the sea­son this week­end.

The De­mons lost to Yackan­dan­dah in week two af­ter an open­ing round vic­tory over Baran­duda.
