More concepts for Mt Beauty pool
THE toddlers’ pool at Mt Beauty is set to be retained with Alpine Shire Council now seeking further community input regarding the preferred option for a new water play area at the venue.
In July, council proposed to replace the toddlers’ pool with a new splash pad but it will now remain and a separate water play area will be added to provide more fun for kids.
The titles on all three pools will be replaced in time for the start of the season in November and council’s director assets Will Jeremy said a new feature will be installed adjacent to the toddlers’ pool after the season finishes early next year.
“We have been delighted by the response to our previous request for feedback from an engaged and passionate community,” he said.
“We received a clear message that the toddlers’ pool is an important asset.
“We plan to refurbish the pool ahead of the start of the pool season in November and develop a separate water play area in time for the 2019 pool season.
“We have been working with the preferred contractor to identify achievable options for a water play area located closely to the toddlers’ pool.”
Two concepts have been prepared, each with different water play features which council would like to hear from the community on.
Mr Jeremy said council were also looking at removing part of the shade over the toddlers’ pool to allow more sunlight in to warm up the pool water.
A drop-in session will be held at the Mt Beauty Library from 4-6pm next Wednesday for community members to come along and discuss the pool upgrade with council staff as well as provide feedback on the proposed water play options.
The project has received funding from Sport and Recreation Victoria, with the aim of increasing participation and usage of the pool by the community.
Feedback can be emailed to email@example.com. gov.au and will be received until Monday, September 10.
