Police investigate road rage incident and theft
POLICE are continuing to investigate a road rage incident at Mt Buffalo on August 26 that saw damage caused to two vehicles.
A Myrtleford woman driving a black Holden Commodore sedan, and a Point Cook man in a red Holden Captiva, were involved in verbal confrontation in the car park at Dingo Dell before the argument escalated and saw both vehicles collide with each other on two occasions.
Leading Senior Constable Brendan Achammer of Myrtleford police said the incident ended when the female driver left the scene.
“We have a case where one person has initially offended and then the victim has become an offender as well,” he said.
“Our understanding is that both people were circulating looking for a car park at a time when spaces were at a premium.
“There was a park become available and the man has done a three-point turn to try and get there first, which appears to be not to courteous to the Myrtleford woman.
“The woman got out of her car and confronted the other driver and then hopped back in her car and in frustration rammed the front of the man’s car, making reasonable impact.
“She has then done to drive past and that’s when the second collision has happened with the man accelerating into the side of her car.
“There was quite a crowd who witnessed it and have helped us with our investigations but if anyone has further mobile phone or dash cam footage or information we’d love to her from them.”
Ldg Snr Cons Achmamer said the Myrtleford woman will be formally interviewed tomorrow.
Myrtleford police are also investigating the theft of a keg of beer from Excel Freight last Thursday night.
Sergeant Paul Evans said three males were caught on CCTV footage entering the back of the Standish Street business at about 9.35pm and removing a keg from a pallet.
