Sun shines on ath­let­ics day

PRI­MARY school chil­dren from Har­ri­etville, Wandiligong and Pore­punkah joined Bright stu­dents for the clus­ter ath­let­ics re­cently.

Stu­dents from the four schools came to­gether at Bright on a beau- ti­ful win­ter’s day on Au­gust 24 for the an­nual car­ni­val.

They com­peted in track and field events in­clud­ing long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, dis­cus, 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m races and 4x100m re­lays.

There were a num­ber of out­stand­ing per­for­mances on the day and sev­eral new records set while

Ovens was the win­ning house with 800 points.

Age group cham­pi­ons were Matilda Gabler (Pore­punkah) and Gus Van­loon (Bright) 9 years, Luca McIn­tosh (Bright) and Jackson He­witt (Bright) 10 years, Hannah Witts (Bright) and Tyler Thoma­son (Bright) 11 years, Ruby Bryant (Pore­punkah) and Tom Gray (Bright) 12-13 years.
