Savoy rivals pay up after outburst

Myrtleford Times - - Sports -

MYRTLEFORD will receive $1000 from rivals Wangaratta to cover costs to fix a window and doors damaged by a Red Devils player during this year’s La Fiera Cup clash.

Wangaratta defender Stoycho Ivanov caused the damage in the away clubrooms after being sent off late in the May 27 match.

Ivanov damaged two doors as he entered the chan- gerooms and later broke a window as he watched the final minutes of his sides 2-1 win from afar.

Myrtleford and Wangaratta soccer clubs fronted the Albury Wodonga Football Association powers last week where they settled on a remuneration figure.

Myrtleford president Zac Mirt said he was glad both parties could come to an agreement on what should be paid.

“It took a while to get to this stage but we’re happy to see things resolved,” he said.

“Although it’s probably not going to cover the extent of the damage we want to move forward, and we see this as a positive conclusion.”

Mirt said the broken window was fixed immediately after the incident while the damaged doors will soon be replaced.
