BLESSED BE THY PETS
ALL creatures great and small will have the opportunity to be blessed this Sunday, October 21 at St Paul’s Anglican Church on Clyde Street, Myrtleford.
And the invitation isn’t limited to man’s best friend, as all pets are welcome, including horses, sheep, and even fish.
The October feast of St Francis is celebrated all over the world (not just in the Alpine shire), and it’s customary that in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures, animals are led to churches for a special ceremony called the “Blessing of the Animals.”
Reverend Richard Pennington (pictured with some horses last week) will be conducting the nondenominational service, starting from 5pm, and predicts it will be a fun afternoon with maybe even a local clydesdale horse popping by.
