Late combo wins event

Coun­try Wide In­sur­ance Bro­kers held its an­nual Am­brose event at Nar­ro­gin last Satur­day and it was great to see some new faces out on the track.

The win­ners on 55¼ were the last-minute com­bi­na­tion of Al Hastie, Phil Hud­son, Ash Wilkins and Jesse Lay­man.

Run­ners up on 57¾ were Russell Cowcher, Noel White, Trent Kensett-Smith and Stan Matveev, nar­rowly ahead of Les Chitty, Frank Goater, and Rod and Jane Slater with 577⁄

There was a va­ri­ety of nov­el­ties on of­fer, with the high­lights be­ing Trent Kensett-Smith’s long drive on the 14th and Brian Evans’ very short one on the first.

Sun­day was a sweep­stake round due to the Wa­gin Open Day, with Peter Bor­gas win­ning on 36 fol­lowed by Kim Der­byshire on 35 and Rod Hayes, Barry Har­ris and Jim Lee, all on 34.

It was great to see the vet­er­ans putting on a golfing clinic.

There is a big week­end of golf com­ing up, start­ing with the Holden Scram­ble on Fri­day, fol­lowed by the Richard and Judy Reid monthly mugs on Satur­day and the mixed four­somes cham­pi­onship on Sun­day. To nom­i­nate a team for the Holden Scram­ble, call Gra­ham Broad on 0427 814 777.
