Robins in solid win

Narrogin Observer - - Observer Sport - HOCKEY

Two great games in the Upper Great Southern Hockey Association were played in last weekend’s Sportspower women’s A-grade.

The first game was between Wagin and Robins and a top-two position on the ladder was up for grabs.

In a close game where both teams had several scoring shots in the first half, the defence came out on top.

Late in the first half, Leah Sieber was able get the past Wagin’s goalkeeper to put the first goal on the board.

The second half saw Wagin having several early shots but great defence held them out, and Robins had several counter attacks but could not find the net.

Late in the second half, Robins’ Louise Pomykala scored a second and was closely followed by a third from Chloe Blight. Robins won the game 3-0. The second game had Mighty Ducks take on Williams in very cool conditions. The first half saw both teams move the ball around the field without getting a score on the board, but the second half saw several shots on goal.

Williams scored first and Mighty Ducks were able to reply quickly to make the game even.

As the end of the game quickly approached, Mighty Ducks were awarded a penalty corner and as the siren sounded, they were able to score the winning goal and get their first win of the season, 2-1.
