Narrogin’s historic Cornwall Hotel’s $1 million renovation is nearing completion, to the delight of new owner Parminder Singh, who wants to bring the pub, built in 1904, back to its former glory.

The Cornwall Hotel has been a part of Narrogin since 1904 and is close to re-opening with renovations costing almost $1 million nearing completion.

The building is getting a complete overhaul as new owner Parminder Singh aims to bring the outside of the building back to its original 1904 look while installing modern features to the inside.

The Sports Bar will be open to everyone and will have three dart boards and a pool table, while the Winter Court will have a casual dress code and will be family friendly.

The Winter Court will be open from 9am every day with patrons welcome for all-day breakfast, lunch and dinner.

There is a playground and allaccess toilet with a change table for mums and dads wanting to have a place to meet up with other families.

One point of difference at the new and improved Cornwall will be the beverages available on tap.

Mr Singh has five taps in the Sports Bar and six in the Winter Bar and he is able to change which beverages are available on tap daily.

The hotel will feature live music on Fridays and when the demand calls for it the Winter Court can be turned into a mini nightclub on Saturday nights; and locals won’t have to worry about a long walk home after a big night because the Cornwall will have three complementary taxis on rotation.

The hotel also has a new pizza bar in the beer garden which will be opening one night a week initially, with the aim to expand operating hours in the summer.

Eleven rooms have had a makeover and feature Foxtel, heating, fridges and kettles, and Mr Singh hopes that the renovation of the hotel can keep locals in Narrogin.

“My aim is to invest in the local community,” he said. “This is a local pub for local people; you don’t have to leave town, you have it all right here.”

Up to 20 jobs will be created once the hotel opens, including bar and kitchen staff in both full-time and part-time positions.

The Cornwall will be officially re-opening on Friday, August 18, with live music planned from noon onwards.
