Dawson tames the conditions
Sportspower Narrogin sponsored the Corrigan Cup on Saturday and it was great to see a good field in attendance despite the inclement weather.
Graham Dawson found the conditions to his liking, shooting 36 points to win the event from Gary Sobey and Kim Derbyshire on 35, with Craig Allinson a shot further back on 34.
Novelties went to Russell Cowcher, Gary Sobey, Ken Short and Graham Doust.
The ladies played for the Ruth Har- die memorial plate and, judging by the scores, conditions were tough for the red tee participants.
Daphne Nicholas handled the conditions best to win the net, while Shirley Everett claimed the best gross.
Sunday’s sweepstake par round saw Frederick Les Chitty win on +2 from Shane Thornton +1 and Richard Chadwick in third with -2.
Next week is a sweepstake round on Saturday because of the Cuballing Open 4BBB and Sunday is the captain and vice-captain’s monthly mugs, which are qualifying and eclectic rounds.
