A fire at For­tune Fresh Bak­ery has caused ex­ten­sive dam­age to the pop­u­lar Eger­ton Street store, with it to re­main closed in­def­i­nitely.

For­tune Fresh Hot Bread has been forced to shut in­def­i­nitely af­ter a fire broke out in the kitchen on Sun­day morn­ing.

Nar­ro­gin fire bri­gade were first on the scene at about 5.30am, fol­lowed by the Wil­liams fire bri­gade, with the flames tak­ing around half an hour to ex­tin­guish.

The Eger­ton Street bak­ery suf- fered dam­age to the deep fry­ers, ven­ti­la­tion and ex­ten­sive heat and smoke dam­age to the inside of the build­ing.

Fire crews left the scene at around 8:30am and the bak­ery will be shut for weeks as a re­sult of the in­ci­dent.

Nar­ro­gin po­lice said the cause of the fire was still un­de­ter­mined, and at this stage the in­ci­dent is be­ing treated as an ac­ci­dent.
