Semifinal action ready to start

Narrogin Observer - - Observer Sports -

The home and away netball fixtures concluded on the weekend with the 14, 12 and 10-and-under grades playing their last games of the season.

The 16-and-under second semifinal will start the ball rolling on Friday at 5pm with Cuballing 2 taking on Olympics Jade.

The 19-and-under division semifinal will be played at 6.30pm on Friday.

Top seeds Olympics Navy are up against Waves 4 for the express route to the grand final.

With only three teams in the 19and-under grade this season, third on the ladder, NRC 1 have the week off and will play in next week’s preliminary final.

In the 16-and-under first semi, Wagin 4 and Flames Phoenix will battle it out to survive another week.

Finals for senior grades will begin on Saturday at 1pm with Wagin 1 and Wickepin 1 going head-to-head to avoid elimination in A1.

These two teams were very evenly matched when they met a couple of weeks ago and played out a draw.

Also at 1pm is the second semifinal in the A2 division between Cuballing 1 and Waves 2.

Waves 2 are no doubt hoping for a different result than when they played Cuballing 1 this time last year.

Olympics Turquoise and Wagin 2 will clash in a must-win game at 2.30pm in the A2 division.

The first semifinal for A3 should be a close contest between Waves 3 and Olympics Aqua.

Long-time finals contenders in A1, Olympics Gold, will go up against association newcomers Pingelly 1 at 4pm with the winner earning a rest next week.

The second semifinal in A3 will be a rematch of last year’s grand final between Wagin 3 and Olympics Royals.

Meanwhile, tickets to the combined Narrogin and Districts Netball Association and Upper Great Southern Hockey Association presentation night on Saturday, September 9, are $50 and can be purchased at the Hockey Bar.

Olympics Gold and Wagin 1 get some great preparation for the finals with a physical game to end their home and away season.
