Fend­ing off chal­lengers

WA Col­lege of Agri­cul­ture — Nar­ro­gin won the Waratah Agri­cul­tural Fenc­ing Chal­lenge at this year’s Dow­erin GWN7 Ma­chin­ery Field Days.

The team of Year 10 and 11 stu­dents have been train­ing twice a week af­ter school with farm tech­ni­cal of­fi­cer Vince Don­ald­son.

This is Mr Don­ald­son’s sec­ond ti­tle as fenc­ing coach and he said the group were bril­liant.

“They worked re­ally well to­gether and have been very com­mit­ted,” he said.

Bryce Lans­dell’s fa­ther, Kevin Lans­dell, was among the spec­ta­tors on the day.

Kevin Lans­dell also won the ti­tle when he was a stu­dent at Nar­ro­gin Agri­cul­tural Col­lege. The team will do a fenc­ing demon­stra­tion and be for­mally pre­sented with their tro­phy at the col­lege’s open day on Fri­day, Septem­ber 15.
