Players tee off for Telethon Charity Day
A huge array of prizes was on offer for golfers at the annual Telethon Charity Day at Narrogin on Saturday.
It was great to see some new faces out on the course.
A special thank you goes to Ron Coppock, who organises this great day.
The team of Terry Wilkins, Al Hastie and Russell Cowcher claimed first place with 58 points from Stan Matveev, Wayne Francis and Ryan O’Dea on 56.
Best gross for the day was Wayne Palumbo with 32 and Andrew Bairstow had the best net with 42 points.
The 2017 Club Championships began on Sunday, with some great matchplay golf.
Top qualifier Brett Coxon progressed to the final of the A-grade with victories over Marty French 4/2 and Wayne Francis 6/4. He will face Wayne Palumbo, who overcame Russell Cowcher 8/7 and Ron Coppock 6/4.
In the B-grade Shane Thornton will face Bill Rybarczyk in the final. Thornton easily accounted for Charlie Buemi 8/6 and Jimmy Lee 5/4, while Rybarczyk had to work a little harder to beat Lau- rie Dunn 1-up and Shayne Boothey 3/1.
The C-grade final sees Phil Hudson play Stan Matveev. Hudson took care of Kim Derbyshire 4/3 and Dale Edgley 4/3 and Matveev accounted for both Steve Williams and Richard Chadwick 1-up.
In the D-grade Alan Birrell defeated Joe Wnuk 3/2.
Next week is the Frank Weston & Co combined Stableford on Saturday followed by the Club Championships on Sunday. Teeoff times for Sunday: A-grade 9am, B-grade 8.45am, C-grade 11.15am and plate 11am.
