Little Athletics off to flying start
Narrogin and Districts Little Athletics Centre started its 2017/18 season last Saturday, with children from numerous towns attending.
The club includes children from the under-6 age category through to under-17s, and Saturday’s meet, sponsored by RJ’s Car Wash, attracted young athletes from Katanning, Dumbleyung, Wagin, Pingelly, Wickepin, Pinjarra and Narrogin.
The club welcomed back members from previous seasons and organisers were rapt to see many new members and others taking advantage of the opportunity to come and try before signing up for the year. The day’s program included shot-put, javelin/turbo javelin, long jump, triple jump, hurdles, 100m and 400m.
Returning members were looking to beat their personal bests from last season, while new members were setting theirs.
All the children had a great time and had made new friends before the first event even started, which was great to see as the club’s focus is on fun, family and fitness.
The next meet will be on Saturday, October 14 at Thomas Hogg Oval, with set-up starting at 8.30am.
New members are always welcome.

Jordan Whittaker, 11, of Pinjarra, competes in the triple jump.
