Extra course adds event interest
There is an air of excitement as competitors organise teams and train for the annual Sunsmart Narrogin Triathlon, which is only two weeks away.
The annual triathlon is in its ninth year and the Narrogin Primary School P and C has been hard at work organising the event, with a few changes to the usual format.
There has been an additional course added to the event this year, slotting in between the under-13 and open events.
There was a need for something more challenging than the intro course but not as daunting as the open events for the 11-14-year age group.
It is also open to all ages and is perfect for the older first-timer and the fun-runner to have a go.
The five courses are: mini (50m swim, 750m bike, 500m run), intro (100m swim, 2.5km bike, 750m run), short course (150m swim, 5km bike, 1.25km run), middle distance (200m swim, 8km bike, 2.5km run) and long distance (400m swim, 16km bike, 4km run).
The event will get under way at 8.30am and competitors in the mini event will be first out of the blocks, followed by intro and short course competitors.
The middle and long course events will start at 9.30am after the completion of the first three events and presentations will be at 11.30am on the grass near the leisure centre.
Healthway, promoting the Sunsmart message, is the major sponsor of the event, enabling the provision of free hats for competitors.
Entry nominations are online and the registration link can be found at narroginprimaryschool.wa.edu, with paper entry forms also available at Narrogin Primary School and the Narrogin Leisure Centre.
Entries will close on Friday, November 10.
The event will be held on Sunday, November 12, at the Narrogin Leisure Centre.
