Downderry Wines came home big winners at the 2017 WA Boutique Wine Show held in late October.

The Narrogin winery took out gold in the Latitude 34 Best WA Red Table Wine category for its 2015 shiraz at the Bridgetown judging. The winery also took home two high-silver and two bronze awards.

Rex and Jenny Hayes founded the winery in 1997 and the vines grow on what used to be a working farm. The soil is a well-matured mixture of rich loam and gravel over clay which makes it ideal for growing a variety of grapes for winemaking.

The Hayeses do not spray chemicals on the grapes while they are growing; only once at blood burst.

The winery is open Friday through Monday with a gourmet meal offered on the last Friday of each month and the popular Sunday brunches on every second Sunday of the month.

They also cater for business events and parties and will be hosting an Under the Stars evening in February.
