A website that balances imagery with a strong mission statement
Successful design goes beyond sexy images, trendy layouts, or polished white space. Successful design solves a problem and speaks the language of its customers. Strategic messaging and user experience is crucial. So I took that on board when it came to this design challenge. Although Smith&Co. is fictitious, I imagined it being a trendy, modern-interior design agency with a clever marketing twist. It is inspired by the extensive Photoshopping of portfolio items and magazine spreads. We can make anything look amazing, but at the end of the day, is it actually real? This is important to think about as designers.
If a customer does business with Smith&Co., they expect to get the same results as the photos they’ve seen in marketing or magazines, or on the website’s portfolio. Sure, anyone can stage a space to look great, but what happens when the professionals leave? Can you live in it and still get the same experience?
