EDITOR’S NOTE

net magazine - - WELCOME -

When I first took over the magazine earlier this year, one of the first things that grabbed my attention – only a few months on the horizon – was issue 300. What an unbelievable milestone, and what a pleasure to be in the editor’s chair for this celebration of the past, present and future of web design. In a world where print magazines are an endangered species, it really is an achievement worth celebrating in style. Hopefully we’ve done it justice in this special anniversary edition of net.

Our cover feature looks at what lies ahead for the web design industry across the next 300 issues. We asked web visionaries to investigate for us, and their findings show what The Future of Web Design is.

net began back in 1994, and it’s hard to fathom just how much has changed since then. We’ve been there all the way, and our 30 Greatest Web Moments feature takes a glorious look at the landmark languages, tools and events that shaped the web. It wouldn’t be a special edition if we didn’t talk to genuine web royalty, so we’re excited to have Ethan Marcotte, Jeffrey Zeldman and Håkon Wium Lie grace this issue. These great minds helped create the internet we love, and we can’t wait for you to digest what they’ve got to say about how we move forward.

Whether this is the first issue of net you’ve picked up or you’ve been onboard since issue one, thank you. Enjoy the issue, and here’s to another 300.
