The web has grown up fast since Tim Berners-Lee came up with the idea in 1989. In the 26 years since the first site became available to the world, the web’s specs have been in a state of constant development, with new techniques and technologies turning up at a dizzying rate. Keeping up with them can be hard enough; picking out a mere 30 of the most important ones is quite a challenge.
