WHAT IS IT? Though it’s been around for a while, ‘the caveman diet’ is as popular as ever. It’s about eating as our ancestors would: lean protein such as meat, chicken and fish, eggs, lots of plants, a few portions of fruit, nuts and seeds. Dairy, grains, processed food and sugars are not allowed. THE RULES There is no one-size-fits all paleo approach, but according to Irena Macri, founder of eatdrinkpaleo.com, you can transition slowly by having protein with every meal (especially breakfast), embracing good fats such as avocados, olive and coconut oils, and eating gut-healthy foods.
