WHAT IS IT? Though it’s been around for a while, ‘the cave­man diet’ is as pop­u­lar as ever. Justin Gel­band, the man who trains Vic­to­ria’s Se­cret mod­els, in­clud­ing Candice Swanepoel, Irena Shayk and Kar­lie Kloss, says it is the only diet that works. It’s about eat­ing as our an­ces­tors would: lean pro­tein such as meat, chicken and fish, eggs, lots of plants, a few por­tions of fruit, nuts and seeds. Dairy, grains, pro­cessed food and sug­ars are not al­lowed. THE RULES There is no one-size-fits all pa­leo ap­proach, but ac­cord­ing to Irena Macri, founder of eat­drinkpa­leo.com, you can tran­si­tion slowly by hav­ing pro­tein with ev­ery meal (es­pe­cially break­fast), em­brac­ing good fats such as av­o­ca­dos, olive and co­conut oils, and eat­ing gut-healthy foods.
