QWhat’s the best way to cook eggs in the microwave so they’re similar to poached eggs? Michael, via email.

ABreak an egg into a well-greased microwavesafe cup. Pierce the yolk a couple of times with a toothpick or skewer. Cover with damp absorbent kitchen paper. Microwave on LOW power (30 per cent) for about 1½ to 2 minutes (we used a 1200 watt microwave), or until cooked to your liking. Remove. Stand in cup for 1 minute before serving, as egg will continue to cook.
