WITH the crush almost at an end, the Bundaberg mills processed a total of 70,599 tonnes of cane last week.

Weekend storm activity had a negative effect on cane supply, particularly across the Bingera area, where more than 100mm of rain fell.

So far this season 1,681,005 tonnes of cane have been crushed.

Bundaberg Sugar grower services officer Bruce Roberts said the CCS average for the week at the Bundaberg mills was 14.86 units, with wet weather having an impact at Bingera.

"Bingera’s average CCS was 14.72 units, down by 0.27 units due to the wet field conditions in that area, while the average CCS at Millaquin was higher at 14.96, which is a 0.24 unit increase from the previous week,” Mr Roberts said.

“These results bring the season average so far to 14.09 units," Mr Roberts said.

At this point, weather permitting, the remaining cane in the Millaquin area will be harvested by November 26 for a season finish on November 27.

Bingera’s season finish is expected to be December 5.
