Driver caught with­out li­cence off road longer

DIS­QUAL­I­FIED driver Neil Howett was caught be­hind the wheel of a car in Bur­nett Heads de­spite be­ing dis­qual­i­fied by a court for two years.

Howett, 33, pleaded guilty in Bund­aberg Mag­is­trates Court to driv­ing when dis­qual­i­fied at 10.45pm on Au­gust 29.

Prose­cu­tor Se­nior Con­sta­ble Tina Bland, said he had been dis­qual­i­fied by court or­der for two years back in March.

His car num­ber plates were seized and his car for seven days.

Howett said: “I don’t re­ally have any­thing to say. I know I shouldn’t have been driv­ing.”

Mag­is­trate Belinda Mer­rin ac­cepted there had been some emo­tional is­sues in his life but told him he was still not per­mit­ted to drive.

Howett was fined $1000 and dis­qual­i­fied for an­other two years.
