HESS SET TO FACE ROOSTERS
Bundaberg star suffers knee injury in Cowboys win but clears himself for semi
LEAGUE: Bundaberg’s Coen Hess insists his season is not over despite suffering a knee injury during North Queensland’s win over Parramatta on Saturday night.
The incredible season of the Cowboys has extended for one more week after they defeated the Eels 24-16 at ANZ Stadium.
It looked to have come at a cost after Hess was injured in the first half, clutching his right knee in agony.
He kept playing, scoring a try in the 51st minute and gaining 147 metres in 19 runs before being taken off 13 minutes from the end.
Hess now believes he will be fit to take on the Sydney Roosters after suffering what is believed to be a medial injury.
“That’s what the doctor said it might be,” he told the Townsville Bulletin.
“He said my knees are pretty flexible, which gives me confidence.”
Hess adds to a Cowboys injury line-up that continues to defy the odds.
“It’s been a roller coaster season for us, losing a few influential players, but we finally got some luck on our side,” he said.
“The boys are really high on emotion, the belief in the group is strong and we’re 80 minutes from a grand final. It’s pretty crazy.”
The Cowboys play the Roosters on Saturday night.
