CYCLING: The Auswide Bank International Cycling Spectacular organisers hope January can remain the date for the event.

The Spectacular was held this month after date clashes with other cycling events prevented it from being held in December.

Organiser Jason Templeman said the success of the event made this month a fantastic date for it.

“It’s proven this weekend that January has been really good for riders,” Templeman said.

“We’ve just got to look at timing of calendars and we’ve got to fit around state or national titles.”

Templeman said the dates could be finalised soon and set permanently to allow riders and fans to plan.

“We want to have our event locked on an x, y and z date on a 12 month rotation basis,” he said.

“We’ll have a significant announcement of those dates in three to four weeks.”
