‘Erratic’ driver hit rail before crashing car
POLICE say a woman who was seen driving erratically before hitting a rail and crashing her car yesterday morning is lucky to be alive.
Emergency services were called to the scene, 19km north of Gin Gin, after multiple 000 calls about the driver.
Gin Gin Sergeant Sharon Morgan said police were called to the serious single-vehicle crash about 8am yesterday, on she said was a dangerous stretch of road.
“Upon arrival police spoke with the 24-year-old female driver who was still seated in the driver’s seat of the vehicle,” Sgt Morgan said.
“She had minor injuries and was conveyed to the Bundaberg Base Hospital in a stable condition.
“The driver will likely remain in hospital for the day and a blood specimen has been obtained from her and I should have those results in a couple of weeks’ time.”
She said police are urging all drivers to remain vigilant and take care while travelling on the road
“Slow down and remember the Fatal Five.”
