‘Er­ratic’ driver hit rail be­fore crash­ing car

PO­LICE say a woman who was seen driv­ing er­rat­i­cally be­fore hit­ting a rail and crash­ing her car yes­ter­day morn­ing is lucky to be alive.

Emer­gency ser­vices were called to the scene, 19km north of Gin Gin, af­ter mul­ti­ple 000 calls about the driver.

Gin Gin Sergeant Sharon Mor­gan said po­lice were called to the se­ri­ous sin­gle-ve­hi­cle crash about 8am yes­ter­day, on she said was a dan­ger­ous stretch of road.

“Upon ar­rival po­lice spoke with the 24-year-old fe­male driver who was still seated in the driver’s seat of the ve­hi­cle,” Sgt Mor­gan said.

“She had mi­nor in­juries and was con­veyed to the Bund­aberg Base Hos­pi­tal in a sta­ble con­di­tion.

“The driver will likely re­main in hos­pi­tal for the day and a blood spec­i­men has been ob­tained from her and I should have those re­sults in a cou­ple of weeks’ time.”

She said po­lice are urg­ing all driv­ers to re­main vig­i­lant and take care while trav­el­ling on the road

“Slow down and re­mem­ber the Fatal Five.”
