In­no­cent man freed af­ter 20 years

A COURT in the US has freed a man who spent 20 years in prison for sec­ond-de­gree murder. Larry McKee, 47, had been serv­ing a sen­tence of 24 years to life for the shoot­ing death of Theodore Vance, 29, in New York. Ac­cord­ing to new ev­i­dence un­cov­ered by the Bronx District At­tor­ney’s Of­fice dur­ing a re­view of the case, Mr Vance, who was bleed­ing to death, told a wit­ness he saw “a Span­ish guy”. The ev­i­dence was not shared with Mr McKee’s de­fence team. Mr McKee (pic­tured) is black. His in­dict­ment has been dis­missed and there will be no new trial.
