Stunning Aboriginal Dreamtime designs

Mainie is a unique melding of Australia’s 60,000-year-old indigenous arts heritage and luxury silks, carefully sourced from the historic Silk Cities of China, where silk making originated more than 4700 years ago.

Launched in August 2015, Mainie’s first collection of exquisite silk scarves and resort wear featuring authentic Aboriginal Dreamtime designs was an immediate success.

Since then, the Queensland-based label has quickly made its mark in the Australian luxury retail sector.

The inspiration for Mainie grew from a genuine desire by the company’s founders, Charmaine Saunders and Denis Keeffe, to create a truly Fair Trade brand, which supports the artistic endeavours of women artists from some of Australia’s most remote Aboriginal communities.

Mainie opened their own shop earlier this month on the Sunshine Coast at Sunshine Plaza (ground floor, Myer end next to Lorna Jane).
