The path from one end of the river to the other is right on the water and extremely popular for walkers and runners. A particular­ly good walk to do on sunrise and sunset. Flat

3 NOOSA NATIONAL PARK ▷ Approximat­ely 2.5km from the first rock wall

Start | Park Rd, Noosa Heads. Follow the boardwalk from the first rock groyne along Noosa beach, up past Little Cove and into the national park. One of the most iconic Sunshine Coast walks.

4 COOLUM ▷ 2km from Coolum Surf Club to Point Arkwright lookout

Start | David Low Way, Coolum Beach. Wander up the board walk from the Coolum Surf Club, passing each of the Coolum bays before you finish at Point Arkwright. The majority of the walk is fully-lit so you can do it at night as well. Uphill

5 MT COOLUM ▷ 1.6km return

Start | Tanah St West, just off the David Low Way. Take a challengin­g walk to the summit where there are spectacula­r 360 degree views of the coastal area, including Point Cartwright and the Glass House Mountains. Uphill and then downhill

6 MAROOCHY RIVER FORESHORE ▷ 2.7km one way

Start | Bradman Ave, Maroochydo­re. Take a walk from the dog park on Bradman Avenue right along the river to up near the boat ramp. The perfect walk to take your dog along. Flat Walk through the Buderim Forest towards the waterfall. The 700m long wooden boardwalk is wheelchair friendly but it then ends and turns to bush until the track reaches the waterfalls and rock pools.

8 ALEXANDRA HEADLAND TO MOOLOOLABA ▷ 2.5km one way

Start | Alex Beach Surf Club. Follow the path up and over The Bluff and into Mooloolaba then along Mooloolaba Beach to the surf club. Enjoy the views at the top of the headland at Alex.

9 KAWANA SURF CLUB TO POINT CARTWRIGHT ▷ 2.5km one way

Walk along the water from Kawana Surf Club right up to the lighthouse at Point Cartwright and then enjoy the spectacula­r views from the headland. Mostly flat

10 MAROOCHY BOTANICAL GARDENS ▷ Distance varies

There’s eight different walks you can take through the gardens: Lagoon Walk, Fern Glade Walk, Mossy Log Walk, Whipbird Walk, Sculpture Garden Walk, Ephemeral Wetland Walk, Creek Walk and the Upland Bushwalk. There’s one to suit all ages and abilities. Mostly flat

11 CURRIMUNDI LAKE ▷ 1.4km one way

Take a stroll along the southern shoreline of Currimundi Lake between Gamban Esplanade and the beach or walk through to Kathleen McArthur Conservati­on Park on the north side. Flat

12 KIN KIN COUNTRYSID­E ▷ 14km circuit

Walk through the charming countrysid­e of the Noosa hinterland starting along Wahpunga Lane. Pass through mango farms, rolling hills. Stop for a break at either Shepperson­s Park or Gradys Park. This trail is ideal for bird watching. Mostly flat

13 MOFFAT BEACH TO KINGS BEACH ▷ 1.5km one way

Take the coastal walk up and over the headland at Moffat Beach to Kings Beach and enjoy the views of the water the whole way.

14 CALOUNDRA’S COASTAL PATHWAY ▷ 9km one way

This path runs along Caloundra’s beaches from Bells Creek in the south, all the way to Point Cartwright in the north. Walk it all or just walk a smaller section. Enjoy the view of some of the Coast’s best beaches. Mostly flat

15 BAROON LOOKOUT ▷ 4.4km one way

Start | Narrows Rd, just 10 minutes from Montville. Narrows Lookout has views over the Narrows Gorge and the Baroon Lookout for views of the Obi Obi Gorge, Baroon Pocket Dam.

16 EUMUNDI REGIONAL PARK ▷ 2.3km, 3.6km, 4km and 5.1km

There’s four different walking tracks through the Eumundi Regional Park that explore the bushland, dams, creeks and forests. There’s one to suit the kids all the way up to the most experience­d bushwalker­s. EASY/INTERMEDIA­TE Flat and hilly tracks

17 KONDALILLA FALLS ▷ 2.4km, 3.2km or 4.6km tracks

Walkers can choose one of three tracks that run through the rainforest towards the waterfalls: the easy 2.4km Picnic Creek Circuit, the moderate 3.2km Rock Pools Walk or the more challengin­g 4.6km Kondalilla Falls Circuit.

18 GLASS HOUSE MOUNTAINS

Mount Beerburrum (1.4km), Mount Ngungun (2.8km), Mount Tibrogarga­n (3.3km) If you’re feeling adventurou­s then why not take a walk up one of the Glass House Mountains. There’s brilliant views from the top of each one.
