The best way to unwind is to head for the hinterland along fantastic trails
OUT on a Noosa Country Drive, there is nothing better than to go “loopy” in the best possible way by heading out on to the upgraded sealed local road network.
There is the Northern Loop, a 146km day trip taking in Boreen Point, Kin Kin and Cooran. The Central Loop winds along 91km from Pomona, Cooroy and Lake Macdonald.
Or there is the Southern Loop, an 80km day trip taking in Doonan, Eumundi, Cooroy and Tinbeerwah. You can also mix and match in any way you like for your own hybrid driving grand tour. One of the great understated destinations in the Noosa Country Drive to really unwind is the township of Kin Kin.
Its green rolling surrounds and laidback locals offer a therapeutic escape from high-pressured lives. Kin Kin has always attracted the type of people who look to feed their creativity by living in natural surroundings.
Switched-on day trippers have been pressing the escape button to enjoy lots of fresh air, scenery and paddock to plate food.
The Kin Kin Creation markets, held on the town oval on the first Sunday of each month from 9am–1pm, showcase the unbound natural energy of this diverse community.
Of course the centrepiece of the township is Country Life Hotel, with the name summing up the sort of hospitality it has become legendary for, along with its home-cooked meals made from fresh produce. Just up the road is the “main drag’s” other special gem – the funky Kin Kin General Store with its added attraction, the Black Ant Gourmet. The whole set-up promises a “a hive of creative expression with all food being free range and no spray as well as organic coffee”.
They stock local produce and a surprising range of quality meals. And these Kin Kin hubs are just the starting point. Fan out in any direction and you find amazing places like health retreats, artisan galleries and the natural attraction of the Great Noosa Trail Walk.
