Paid park­ing plan on hold

PLANS to in­tro­duce paid park­ing at Guilderton have been de­ferred by the Shire of Gin­gin.

The shire was go­ing to in­tro­duce paid park­ing for vis­i­tors at the end of this month, how­ever de­cided to de­fer those plans af­ter a mo­tion passed at the De­cem­ber elec­tors’ AGM called for the coun­cil to re­con­sider the plan.

Shire Pres­i­dent David Roe said the coun­cil re­solved on De­cem­ber 20 to in­tro­duce me­tered park­ing at the Guilderton Fore­shore car park, over­look­ing the Moore River mouth, and is­sue free park­ing passes to ratepay­ers in the 6041 post­code.

The coun­cil con­sid­ered the elec­tors’ mo­tion at its Jan­uary 17 meet­ing and agreed to have staff pre­pare a re­port on the po­ten­tial im­pli­ca­tions of the res­o­lu­tion by mid-May.

Cr Roe said a de­ci­sion would be de­ferred un­til coun­cil con­sid­ered the re­port.
