Paid parking plan on hold
PLANS to introduce paid parking at Guilderton have been deferred by the Shire of Gingin.
The shire was going to introduce paid parking for visitors at the end of this month, however decided to defer those plans after a motion passed at the December electors’ AGM called for the council to reconsider the plan.
Shire President David Roe said the council resolved on December 20 to introduce metered parking at the Guilderton Foreshore car park, overlooking the Moore River mouth, and issue free parking passes to ratepayers in the 6041 postcode.
The council considered the electors’ motion at its January 17 meeting and agreed to have staff prepare a report on the potential implications of the resolution by mid-May.
Cr Roe said a decision would be deferred until council considered the report.
